...Sony V1, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 7-28 f2.8-4, 1/400 @ f4, ISO 200

Day 188 - Thursday 04 November 2010

Brass. Another day, another bed space! There's a reason we're called Movers :) This is the brass plate on the wall outside the mess I'll hopefully be staying in till next Wednesday...

...Sony V1, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 7-28 f2.8-4, 1/40 @ f2.8, ISO 200

Day 187 - Wednesday 03 November 2010

Valve. If time runs out - shoot the plumbing! Long, tiring but very productive day of training in Bicester. Late back to the Barracks so only a rushed shot of an isolating valve in the accommodation block today...

...Sony V1, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 7-28 f2.8-4, 1/20 @ f4, ISO 200

Day 186 - Tuesday 02 November 2010

Rad valve. We keep moving accomodation! I'm now in my second bedspace in three nights and will move again on Thursday! My current bed is right up against this old radiator! I hope it doesn't get too hot tonight...

...Sony V1, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 7-28 f2.8-4, 1/5 @ f3.2, ISO 800

Day 185 - Monday 01 November 2010

Gym window. Autumn has definitely arrived! The camp I'm staying on this time has loads of trees which are shedding leaves like its going out of fasion. Were almost knee deep in them! This is a view from one of the gymnasium windows...

Day 184 - Sunday 31 October 2010

Shower triptych. I was only going to post one of these pictures as today's 365 but couldn't decide which one. I liked all three from the shoot so the obvious solution was to create a triptych...

Day 183 - Saturday 30 October 2010

Alien 2. The last picture titled 'Alien' was way back on day 61. This one is the result of laying a thin slice of tomato on the lens of a powerful (1000 candle power!) torch. Close-up & extreemly shallow depth of field curtesy of the reversed Pentacon lens...

Day 181 - Thursday 28 October 2010

Bling. Playing with the reversed lens technique again today. This time with a Russian Jupiter 12 35mm lens from my Zorki 4K outfit. I took a picture of medals in a display case last week, this picture is one of my own medals - the Iraq medal...

...Sony alpha200, Jupiter 12 35mm f/2.8 (reversed), 1/200, ISO 800.

Day 180 - Wednesday 27 October 2010

Shell. I need a couple of images for the PhotoPortal forum monthly competition... a fun competiton for members with no prizes for winning. The theme this month is "Small Object". This tiny shell is one of many collected from a beach in north Wales a few years back. I've used an old Pentacon Prakticar lens from my old Praktica BC1 film camera. It was hand held back-to-front in front of the Sony's body which allows you to get a very close macro shot...

...Sony alpha200, Pentacon Prakticar 35-70 f2.8-4 (reversed), 1/200, ISO 200. The lens was set to f/2.8 but the camera doesn't use this as it thinks there is no lens fitted and assumes a setting of f/1

Day 179 - Tuesday 26 October 2010

Bristles. Whilst I'm on holiday I usually give my face a break from the razor, resulting in a Bob Geldof style beard...

...Sony V1, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 7-28 f2.8-4, 1/8 @ f2.8, ISO 200

Monday, 25 October 2010

Day 178 - Monday 25 October 2010

Afternoon nap. Time for another eyebrow raiser, though conciderably tamer than the last one! This one is more about the framing of my foot in the bedstead than anything in the background...

...Sony alpha200, Sigma 18-200 f3.5-6.3, 1/120 @ f6.3, ISO 200

Sunday, 24 October 2010

Day 177 - Sunday 24 October 2010

Tangents. Sunlight streaming through a wooden slatted venetian blind on the landing leaving patterns on the airing cupboard door...

...Sony V1, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 7-28 f2.8-4, 1/125 @ f4, ISO 200

Day 176 - Saturday 23 October 2010

Mars Orbit. Having taken a picture yesterday of a satalite orbiting the sun, I thought I'd fly the other way today and take a picture of the canals on Mars :)
Seriously though... this picture started life as a close-up of a colourful glass blob on the kitchen windowsill at my brothers house. Taken on my mobile phone, it was an aweful out of focus, flat image so I've been playing with the Distort filter menu in The GIMP. This is the result of using the Emboss filter...

Day 175 - Friday 22 October 2010

Shade. A close-up of the light shade in my bedroom. Look carefully and you'll see the reflection in the brass centerpiece of me lying on the bed taking the picture...

...Sony alpha200, Sigma 18-200 f3.5-6.3, 1/80 @ f6.3, ISO 800

Thursday, 21 October 2010

Day 174 - Thursday 21 October 2010

Medals. The lounge in the Mess is called the 'Medal Room' for good reason. There are several glass display cabinets full of medals adorning the walls...

...Sony alpha200, Sigma 18-200 f3.5-6.3, 1/6 @ f4.5, ISO 800

Wednesday, 20 October 2010

Day 173 - Wednesday 20 October 2010

Calculate. Close-up of the keypad of my cheap (59p from Tesco) calculator. I rather liked the way the keys distorted the numbers...

...Sony V1, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 7-28 f2.8-4, 1/20 @ f2.8, ISO 800

Day 172 - Tuesday 19 October 2010

Reflection. Finished work earlier than usual this afternoon which meant my run could be a bit longer. The extra distance took me to a part of the canal that had been partially drained. This shot is of a large turning area for the boats which still had a reasonable amount of water in it...

...Sony alpha200, Sigma 18-200 f3.5-6.3, 1/160 @ f16, ISO 800
