Shower triptych. I was only going to post one of these pictures as today's 365 but couldn't decide which one. I liked all three from the shoot so the obvious solution was to create a triptych...

Day 183 - Saturday 30 October 2010
Alien 2. The last picture titled 'Alien' was way back on day 61. This one is the result of laying a thin slice of tomato on the lens of a powerful (1000 candle power!) torch. Close-up & extreemly shallow depth of field curtesy of the reversed Pentacon lens...

Bling. Playing with the reversed lens technique again today. This time with a Russian Jupiter 12 35mm lens from my Zorki 4K outfit. I took a picture of medals in a display case last week, this picture is one of my own medals - the Iraq medal...

Day 180 - Wednesday 27 October 2010
Shell. I need a couple of images for the PhotoPortal forum monthly competition... a fun competiton for members with no prizes for winning. The theme this month is "Small Object". This tiny shell is one of many collected from a beach in north Wales a few years back. I've used an old Pentacon Prakticar lens from my old Praktica BC1 film camera. It was hand held back-to-front in front of the Sony's body which allows you to get a very close macro shot...
...Sony alpha200, Pentacon Prakticar 35-70 f2.8-4 (reversed), 1/200, ISO 200. The lens was set to f/2.8 but the camera doesn't use this as it thinks there is no lens fitted and assumes a setting of f/1

Afternoon nap. Time for another eyebrow raiser, though conciderably tamer than the last one! This one is more about the framing of my foot in the bedstead than anything in the background...

Day 176 - Saturday 23 October 2010
Mars Orbit. Having taken a picture yesterday of a satalite orbiting the sun, I thought I'd fly the other way today and take a picture of the canals on Mars :)
Seriously though... this picture started life as a close-up of a colourful glass blob on the kitchen windowsill at my brothers house. Taken on my mobile phone, it was an aweful out of focus, flat image so I've been playing with the Distort filter menu in The GIMP. This is the result of using the Emboss filter...

Day 172 - Tuesday 19 October 2010
Reflection. Finished work earlier than usual this afternoon which meant my run could be a bit longer. The extra distance took me to a part of the canal that had been partially drained. This shot is of a large turning area for the boats which still had a reasonable amount of water in it...
