Day 152 - Wednesday 29 September 2010

Strainer. Following the surprise of yesterday's picture, I've been raiding the cooking utensil drawer to see waht else looks good on the orange ironing board. This is the underside of a stainless sreel serving spoon and it's shadow...

Day 151 - Tuesday 28 September 2010

Say Cheese! A rather surprising shot of the inside of a cheese grater. When I took this I intended to convert it to mono for the patterns of light and shade, but I used our bright orange ironing board as my macro table which added some rather stunning colour to the picture...

Day 147 - Friday 24 September 2010

Silver Lining. Had a go at photographing the moon tonight... quite badly as it turned out! I wanted to show both the moon and the clouds which I was only able to do by combining two images taken at very different exposures...

Day 146 - Thursday 23 September 2010

Television. Thunder, lightening and a trorrential downpour prompted me to look up through the Velux window in the extension ceiling where I noticed the double reflection of the TV screen...

Day 145 - Wednesday 22 September 2010

Six. Today's activity was a navigation excercise... not a lot of navigation involved (the route was along a canal tow path!) but there was a lot of excercise... 10 miles of it! The finish point was the 'Mucky Duck' pub in Woolsthorpe and this pint of 1664 went down very quickly...

Day 143 - Monday 20 September 2010

Birds on a wire. Yes... it's the telegraph pole outside my house again! I've been waiting for a flock of birds to settle on the wires for a while. It's something they do all the time... except when you're waiting for them to do it...

Day 142 - Sunday 19 September 2010

Fluid. I decided to have another go with the screen backlight technique, this time with the much larger screen of the desktop PC instead of the netbook screen. The subject is a glass beaker branded with the logo of a famous soft drinks manufacturer...

Day 141 - Saturday 18 September 2010

Duplex. I have just bought a new Hewlett Packard printer for my daughter, Sian, to take to university. This is a picture of a large opening in the back which I think is the duplexing unit...

...Sony V1, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 7-28 f2.8-4, 1 sec @ f2.8, ISO 200

Day 140 - Friday 17 September 2010

Brick in the wall. I have an apology to make... today was a very busy day, being the last day of the course. Lots of training to get in before lunch then the long trip home, which took a mammoth 5 1/2 hours up the M20, M25 and the Dartford tunnel, M11, A14 and A1. I was so knackered I didn't get to take a picture today. So here is another one from Wednesday's trip into Lydd...

...Sony V1, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 7-28 f2.8-4, 1/250 @ f4, ISO 200

Day 139 - Thursday 16 September 2010

Cheeky! During a 15 minute break in training I noticed some rather interesting pictures hanging in the NAAFI! Whatever keeps the troops happy :) It was very dark in there so it required a very carefully handheld 1/8 exposure at ISO 800...

...Sony V1, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 7-28 f2.8-4, 1/250 @ f7.1, ISO 200

Day 136 - Monday 13 September 2010

Stained Glass. Day 1 at Lydd for more pre-deployment training. This picture is the back of a FIBUA (fighting in built-up areas) village on the camp. This part isn't real buildings but a boundary wall that looks like terrace housing on the inside. No photography allowed inside so I could only take this picture outside the facility...

...Sony V1, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 7-28 f2.8-4, 1/50 @ f4, ISO 200

Sunday, 12 September 2010

Day 135 - Sunday 12 September 2010

Pear. Busy sorting and packing kit today so my 365 picture is a bit of a rush job. I took a pear from the fruit bowl and decided that would be my subject, I only needed to find a way to shoot it...

...Sony V1, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 7-28 f2.8-4, 1/13 @ f3.2, ISO 800

Saturday, 11 September 2010

Day 134 - Saturday 11 September 2010

Red Dragon. I've been toying with the idea of getting a tatoo for some time. Today I finally decided to get it done to cellebrate finishing the mobilisation course at Chilwell. Today's picture is the result...
